Women and Feng Shui

Feng Shui seems the latest craze after `Vastu'. Harry Potter has already taken a backseat in book stores in the city, with Feng Shui paperbacks and hardbounds basking in the limelight. So, when I was invited to a seminar on this Chinese art, I was not surprised to see a large section of the elite of the city there. Women were a majority, all dressed in elegant finery as if attending a wedding reception or participating in a catwalk.

Feng Shui's Indian Grand Master - Dr Charuhas NaikThe seminar began with a sexy thing in black, showing a bit of leg and belly button, introducing Feng Shui and its Indian grand master Dr Charuhas Naik. I was not sure whether the audience was listening to her or her 'b' button. Because everytime she tried to make her session interactive, there was silence from the crowd.

Then the lights were dimmed. When the Feng Shui expert made his grand entry, he looked like he was ready to do a Jeetendra number in his white pants and white silk jacket with black Chinese motifs. "Do you believe in Feng Shui?" he asked. "Yes" the women screamed in unison. "Do you believe in me?" This time the screams of approval were even louder.

The fairer sex laughed, giggled and piped in irrelevant answers through the session, nodding their heads in understanding --perhaps more enamoured by the man than his art.

"Most women call me up and ask me to come quietly to their house when their husband is out," Dr Naik said, quickly adding "for Feng Shui, of course," recalling many such calls even at the witching hour.

He will shortly be holding a special lecture on Feng Shui exclusively for women. Of course.
